feathers: rathlin island

This project was split into two tasks, the first was to create a visual identity for an aspect of the culture, heritage or history of Rathlin Island that represents and promotes Rathlin’s unique attributes. The second was to propose a new idea that promotes sustainable engagement and tourism.

My themed proposal focuses on the preservation of the island’s natural beauty while opening up the bird centre to people around the world, by creating Feathers its own website, as up until now the bird centre‘s information was spread between multiple websites.

The website includes information on the different bird species and centre information, while encouraging schools to learn more about the bird life through engaging and fun activities. One of the major features of the website is the livestreaming service, that allows the public to observe the birds from the comfort of their own device.

‘Feathers’ is a rebranded and modern version of the exisiting seabird centre on Rathlin Island - RSPB Rathlin West Light Seabird Centre. The purpose behind the rebrand is to seperate the seabird centre as its own tourist attraction, as currently, RSPB and the West Lighthouse take the attention away from the bird centre.
